The Comforter in the darkest night
“The Spirit too comes to help us in our weakness.”Romans 8:26
Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Paraclete — the One called alongside, the Comforter, the Advocate.
St Paul says that when we do not know how to pray, the Spirit Himself prays in us “with groans that cannot be put into words.”
Your sighs and tears are not empty. The Spirit gathers them and carries them to the Father.
A short prayer
Come, Holy Spirit, Comforter of the afflicted. Pray in me when I cannot pray. Amen.
