Why does God allow suffering?
“In the world you will have trouble. But take courage: I have conquered the world.”John 16:33
The Christian answer to suffering is not a theory. It is a crucifix. God did not explain pain from a distance; He entered it.
Pope Benedict XVI wrote that we are healed not by fleeing suffering, but by finding meaning in it through union with Christ, who suffered with infinite love.
This does not make pain good. It makes it never meaningless, and never lonely.
A short prayer
Jesus, I do not understand my suffering. Stay with me in it, and give it meaning in Your cross. Amen.
